Renters Rights Campaign

We believe privately rented housing is different from home ownership or social renting, but it should not be worse! Will you help us to transform the private renting sector?

By going out and talking to private renters our Renters Rights group make sure that issues affecting private renters are heard, we then highlight these issues to key influencers of local, regional and national housing strategies. We are based in Brent but we welcome all who support our aims.

Brent council is looking at how to improve Property Licensing now

Property Licensing schemes offer a real way to improve conditions in the Private Rented sector, however, the current system does not involve the tenant, creating serious drawbacks.
For Property Licensing to work tenants must:

Better Landlord Licensing
  • Be aware of property licensing and their rights as tenants
  • Be consulted before a property is awarded a license
  • Have a contactable Tenant Liaison Officer at the council
