Legal Advice for Tenants
'All the legal help a private renter will ever need'
Advice4Renters' sister service, Renters Legal, provides affordable access to our renowned housing advice services for those who do not qualify for Legal Aid.
We provide informed, impartial legal services and have been doing so for over 30 years. Our costs are simple, upfront, and are far more affordable than equivalent services in private practice.
We can help you with:
Tenancy agreement checks
Tenancy terms & conditions
Social housing allocations
Other landlord/tenant issues
We are a charity, so we focus on results, not making a profit. All fees are used for charitable work with vulnerable, low income tenants.
Successfully prevented a client’s eviction from his home in a claim for possession where the client was claiming succession to his late partner’s tenancy. We negotiated a settlement in which the client was awarded the tenancy of his late partner’s property and his landlord agreed to pay costs.
£6,000 awarded to a tenant whose landlord failed to use one of the legally required deposit protection schemes. The possession claim was struck out and the landlord was ordered to pay the client’s costs.
Successfully defended a claim for possession based on alleged rent arrears and negotiated a settlement in which the tenants’ deposit was returned and an award of compensation agreed of just over £4000.
How it works
- Tell us about your issue using the online form.
- An advice assistant will help you lay out your issues, collate all the necessary documents and take payment (£150) or asses your eligibility for legal aid.
- A lawyer will provide you with a solution or if necessary advise you of further action needed. This includes formal written advice.
